One team from first sketch to first swim

What to expect when Blue Science builds your pool

A custom pool is the largest project most families ever put in a backyard, and the part that makes it go well is knowing what happens next. This page walks through every step in the order it happens, what we need from you at each one, and what you have in hand before the next step starts.

The same team stays with you from the first design conversation through startup, and the same company services the pool afterward, so the decisions made on paper are the ones that get built.

    Step 1 of 8

    The first conversation

It starts at your home, in the yard. We talk through how your family wants to use the space: who swims, who supervises, whether you want a spa, a sun shelf or a tanning ledge, where the shade falls in the afternoon, and how the pool should sit with the house and the rest of the outdoor space.

Financing belongs in this conversation rather than at the end. A pool is an investment that deserves planning with the whole project in mind, so we discuss financing options before the design is final, not after.

What you have at the end: You have a clear picture of what the pool is for, and we have what we need to design it.

    Step 2 of 8

    Site review

Before anyone picks a tile, we measure the yard and look at what shapes the build: access for equipment, grade and drainage, utilities and easements, existing trees and structures, and where the equipment pad can go so future maintenance, repairs, and upgrades stay easy.

In an established neighborhood this step matters most. Most of the pools we build go into yards that were laid out decades ago, and the site review is how the design fits the yard you have rather than a catalog shape.

What you have at the end: A measured site plan the design can be drawn on with confidence.

    Step 3 of 8

    Concept design and proposal

Our designers develop the pool shape, depth, entry style, bench seating, spa placement, and where the deck opens toward the house. Features such as fire bowls, sheer descents, and lighting scenes are planned together with the hydraulics and controls, so they look right and run right.

The written proposal spells out what is included, the budget, and the warranty before construction begins. It is a defined project to approve, not an open-ended estimate.

What you have at the end: A concept design and a written proposal you can take your time with.

    Step 4 of 8

    Selections

With the design settled, you choose the materials that give the pool its character: interior finish, waterline tile, coping, decking, and lighting. Samples are looked at outdoors, in the light the pool will actually live in, because colors shift between a sample board indoors and a backyard.

Equipment is selected the same way, as one system. Pump sizing, filter type, sanitizer, heater, and automation are matched to the pool's volume and features rather than chosen one at a time, using Jandy, Pentair, and Hayward equipment that meets current industry standards.

What you have at the end: A complete selections list, so nothing is decided under pressure once construction is under way.

    Step 5 of 8

    Engineering and permits

Structural engineering, city permits, and any approvals your neighborhood requires are handled by us. Timelines here are set by the reviewing offices rather than by us, and we tell you where the paperwork stands rather than leaving you to wonder.

This is also when the construction schedule is set. Weather, inspections, and material lead times decide the pace of each phase, and each phase usually runs within a few weeks.

What you have at the end: Approved plans, permits in hand, and a schedule for the build.

  6. Blue Science team member

    Step 6 of 8

    Construction

Layout and excavation come first, then steel and the gunite shell, then plumbing and electrical, concrete decking, tile and coping, and finally the interior finish. Each phase is inspected before the next one starts, and you get regular updates while the work is in progress.

Because one dedicated team manages the build from the first sketch, there are no surprises about what was completed or what comes next. The crews installing the equipment are the same people who will service the pool afterward, so it is built to a standard that lasts a lifetime rather than to a construction deadline.

What you have at the end: A finished pool, spa, and deck ready for water.

  7. Blue Science team member

    Step 7 of 8

    Fill-up, startup, and your walkthrough

Once the pool is filled we balance the water and start the equipment, then walk you through the controls at your equipment pad. You leave that walkthrough understanding how the system runs, what a normal week looks like, and who to call with a question.

The first weeks after a new interior finish need specific brushing and water-balance steps, and we set those up with you rather than leaving a list on the counter.

What you have at the end: Balanced water, running equipment, and a pool you know how to use.

    Step 8 of 8

A pool that lasts, with the same team

Building the pool is where our relationship starts, not where it ends. Our weekly pool service plans include a photo report after every visit, water testing and balancing, and a water-level check that catches small problems early, from the technicians who already know your equipment pad.

Blue Science has served homeowners since 2007, is licensed, bonded, and insured, and handles building, weekly service, repairs, leak detection, and remodeling with one team, so the people who built your pool are the people who keep it clear.

What you have at the end: Weekly care from the company that built the pool.
