Pool remodeling in The Woodlands, TX from Blue Science: pool resurfacing, tile, coping, decking, lighting, and pool equipment upgrades planned as one project, with a written scope and budget before the pool is drained and one team from demolition to startup and completion. In The Woodlands a pool remodel begins with an in-home consultation, a site visit, and samples looked at outdoors next to the house, so the pool design fits your existing swimming pool, your preferences, and the wear that Gulf humidity, pollen, and afternoon storms leave on a surface.
Start with what's possible
Love Your Pool Again
Look through the finishes, decks, and features before the planning talk, because the choices are easier to make from a picture than from a sample chip. Each has been installed in The Woodlands yards in Sterling Ridge, Alden Bridge, and Creekside Park.

Choose the surface first. It sets the water color, the texture underfoot, and how long the remodel lasts against hard district water in The Woodlands.

Pool Decking Options
The deck frames everything else, so a new surface inside an old cracked deck never looks finished; these are the options The Woodlands owners choose.

Coping, Equipment & Water Features
Coping ties the surface to the deck, and with the pool empty the equipment, lighting, and any feature go in at the same time, so the pad in The Woodlands is done once.

A Smarter Path to a Beautiful Pool Remodel
What to decide before the water comes out of a The Woodlands pool, from the finish that will hold up to hard district water to the upgrades that only make sense while the lights and returns are reachable.

The Woodlands is home to the most stunning and spacious backyard landscapes in the Houston area. Needless to say we absolutely love designing pool renovations that work with and compliment those spaces. Pool owners in The Woodlands desire the best of the best in terms of quality and value - we know firsthand. It has been a joy over the years serving their needs. In the past few months we have renovated some incredible backyards with custom projects including a custom patterned stone pool deck with firepits in Creekside Park Village, built a pool slide with LED lighting in Alden Bridge Village, and completed a pool resurfacing project near Burroughs Park.
The Woodlands has two generations of pools due at once: the 1970s and 1980s pools of Grogan's Mill and Alden Bridge, stained by fifty years of pine tannins and patched more than once, and the 2000s pools of Sterling Ridge and Creekside Park, whose builder plaster is going rough on schedule. The canopy the township was built to keep has had its way with all of them.
Shade decides a Woodlands remodel: a light plaster under pines stains within a season, so we steer owners toward mid-tone pebble and quartz finishes and darker waterline tile, and on the older villages we pressure test the lines with the water out because the plumbing is as old as the plaster.

Questions The Woodlands Pool Owners Ask
How long is the pool out of service for a replaster?
About two weeks from drain to swim: a day or two to drain and chip, a day for the new surface, then the fill and a month of daily brushing while it cures. We plan it around your calendar because you are out of the water for the whole stretch.
Answered by a Blue Science pool builder, Greater HoustonCan you remodel an existing pool?
Yes. Remodeling keeps the shell and replaces what has worn: the interior finish, the waterline tile and coping, the deck, the lighting, and often the equipment. In The Woodlands, Gulf humidity, pollen, and afternoon storms decide which finish and which deck material hold up, so the remodel starts with an on-site look at the pool and samples viewed outdoors next to the house before anything is scoped. In The Woodlands the same company that remodels the pool can put it on a weekly route afterward, and the startup brushing for a new finish is part of the job.
Should I remodel my pool or build a new one?
If the shell is sound, remodel. Almost everything an owner dislikes about an older The Woodlands pool is on the surface or the pad: the finish, the tile, the deck, the lights, the equipment. A new pool makes sense when you want the pool somewhere else or in a different shape, or when the shell has structural damage. Our evaluation looks at the shell first and tells you which one you have.
What is the best pool surface for Texas water?
The tap water here is hard, so calcium climbs all year and shows up as a white scale line at the tile and a rough feel on the plaster. Quartz and pebble finishes stand up to that better than plain plaster, glass bead adds sparkle and a smooth feel, and a darker finish reads as deeper water and warms faster. In The Woodlands we look at samples outdoors, next to your coping and deck, and weigh durability and upkeep alongside looks.
Can I change the shape or add a spa during a remodel?
Yes. With the pool drained, the shell can be cut and re-shot to add a sun shelf, a bench, a raised spa, or steps where there were none, and a deep end can be made shallower. It is structural work, so it is engineered and written as its own line in the The Woodlands remodel scope, and it is the one chance to do it without draining the pool twice.
